Here’s a real life example of how it works:

Right way: Dad buys 2 gift certificates for $50 each. Gives one to co-worker and one to daughter. Co-worker joins CrossFit and loses 200 pounds. Daughter joins CrossFit and goes on to win CrossFit Games. Both give credit to Dad.
